Today We Wear Pink!

Today we are taking a stand. Today we stand against bullying. Today we pledge to be a friend. Today we wear pink!

Pink Shirt Day first began in Nova Scotia in 2007, when a boy was bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt.

We read several books today reminding us of the importance of being a friend to everyone.

We made heart head bands with our counselor, Miss. Akhtar! (she really loves glitter!!)

We took paper hearts. We crumpled them. Crumpling the hearts symbolized hurtful words or actions someone may say or do. This hurts our hearts.

Then we unfolded our paper hearts. This symbolized an apology. Regardless of the apologies said, it can still be hard to forget hurtful words or deeds and these deeds leave "wrinkles" behind. Unkindness, even with an apology, still hurts.

Today we pledged to be kind. We pledged to be a friend. We pledged to stand up for those who are being mistreated. Let us follow Jesus' example and be love and compassion to all we encounter.
