Celebrating Each Other!

We popped our last balloon and inside it was "Minute To Win It" Games! Competition AND games!?!? Yes, please!

Our first game was "There She Blows". Kids were challenged to blow a cup across the room using a straw! Go kids!!!!!

Next we tackled "Capture The Rainbow"! Students worked together in a relay to separate the jelly beans into colours ... using only one hand! Ahhhhh!

Our next challenge was "Go Fish". Students fanned tissue paper fish across the room into a hula hoop. (Turns out this was Mrs. Beliveau's secret ploy to get cooled off with all that fanning!)

"Cookie Slide" was a hit! We opened our cookies, licked 'em, and stuck 'em to our noggins! Then, using our facial muscles, we wiggled and squidged our faces until the cookie slid into our mouths!

Our faces continued to get stickier for this next game! We smeared a dollop of Vaseline on our noses and a buddy was challenged to throw a cotton ball and make it stick! This one was really hilarious!

"Snack Scramble" had the students building little puzzles from snack boxes. Teamwork all the way!

Once Mrs. Beliveau calmed the competitors, all received amazing awards! Each student was honored for their God-given gifts. Students were thrilled to receive a special word cloud filled with personalised words.

Turns out the fun didn't stop there! We walked to the Ardrossan Rec Complex and spent our afternoon taking part in loads of fun activities on the rink! We enjoyed frisbee golf, scooters, parachute, giant soccer, skipping ropes, checkers, connect four, and SO MUCH MORE!

Our last day together was so much fun! We laughed, played and had a blast!

Boys and girls,

Remember how special you are. God has made you unique and in his image, blessing you with countless gifts. Use these gifts to make the lives of others brighter. Please know that I believe in you and I pray that you make this world a kinder place.

Love and hugs,
Mrs. Beliveau

P.S. Always believe in yourself! I believe in you!

Spreading Sunshine

We are called to give, to be generous, and to think of others. We are called to be the hands of Jesus to everyone we meet!

This week, the boys and girls took an opportunity to brighten the spirits of our Grade 8 class! These junior high students have been working hard, writing exam after exam over the last few days. Today was the last exam they had to write. Whew!

To encourage the Grade 8's and let them know we believe in them as they wrap up this week, we assembled and decorated Sunshine Bags! The Grade 1 students filled each bag with a chap stick, gum, juice, granola bar, and a special little message! The children delivered the bags prior to the last exam this morning!

Writing encouraging notes!

Filling the Sunshine Bags!

What a wonderful treat for our grade 8's, and what a wonderful experience for our grade 1's! What happened after we delivered the bags, though, was really neat. Each and every Grade 1 student had a giant smile on their face! Giving makes us feel so good!

May we always remember to be kind and considerate of others, and that our actions, no matter how small, matter!

Thanks for your advice, Kid President!

Here Ya Go, Daddy-O!

The dads, uncles, grandpas, dedos, and brothers in our lives are so important! To show them how much we love and care for them, we began preparing for Father's Day weeks ago!

Joined by special "non-dad" family members, the boys and girls tackled a challenging building project, a tool box! Our school turned into HGTV as the children hammered, nailed, sanded and glued!

We didn't stop there! We got our hands dirty and painted!

 Check out these masterpieces!

But a gift isn't complete without a thoughtful card, and the students were certainly thoughtful as they prepared their flip books!

Here are a few gems the kids wrote:

Are we sure dad loves this chore?

Sorry dad, we did not get that for you this year!

Here are the finished masterpieces! Enjoy, dads!

Many blessings on this Father's Day weekend!

Grade 1 ... Now in 3D!

We've been living life in 3-D!

These past few days, we have begun examining spheres, cylinders, cubes, and cones!

Check out this hilarious and helpful song we have been humming all week long. Careful, it REALLY gets stuck in your noggin'!

Armed with a camera, the kids hit the halls to find real life examples of spheres, cylinders, cubes, and cones!

Where else can you and your child spot 3D shapes?

Solid Shape slides in our Animoto video are gratefully borrowed from Mrs. Ricca's Kindergarten

Harnessing The Energy!

If we could harness the energy of a grade 1 student in June, we could, without a doubt, power Ardrossan!

The boys and girls are arriving each day bubbling with excitement and overflowing with energy! How can we harness it? What's a teacher to do?

Our answer? Balloons and books!

Throughout June, we will be "Ending our Year with a BANG" by popping one balloon a day. Inside each balloon is an engaging and super exciting activity!

We popped our first balloon today, and were excited to head out for some parachute games in phys ed!

We are also so thrilled to take part in another book tournament! We have 16 awesome books what will "playoff" against each other, and in the end, one winner will stand!

We read these two books. Ask your child which one was voted as our winner!

We only have 21 days left, but we are going to make the most of them!
