Happy Hello!

Well hello, my favourite Grade 1's!

I am SO excited you are reading this! I am missing you and your classmates so much! It looks like we are starting a new adventure together. Our learning will look a little different, and we might make some mistakes along the way, but I trust in God's plan for us!

Me and my family have been spending lots of time together. We really like staying in our PJs as long as possible. Today, my kids are at home. They have been baking Frog's Eye Cookies, hiding plastic Easter Eggs for each other, and playing in the backyard. They are both reading a lot, especially Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Junie B Jones series. I hope you are reading a little, too!

I am here today in the classroom, drinking my coffee and planning our learning!

Since we cannot see each other in person, I wanted to find a way to connect us.

Let's share what we are up to and what is bringing a smile to our faces! Anyone build a snowman? Bake muffins? Fold laundry? Tell a silly joke? Let's share below! Here's how:

First, take a picture.

Then, to share your photo (or to simply add a comment):

(1) Double click on our "Happy Hello" board below.

(2) A box will appear. Type in a comment. Upload a picture. Ta da!

(3) Do jazz hands in celebration! Enjoy seeing our classmates!

Thank you for NOT mentioning first / last names, or any identifying / sensitive information. If, for whatever reason, you can't load your comments or pictures above, email me and I'll happily do it. It often works better from a desktop computer rather than your phone, but we will get your smiles posted either way!

I am so excited to see your beautiful smiles!

Cookie's Mischievous Week at JV

This past week, we read the story Cookie's Week, all about a cat who causes mischief all over his house!

We jumped at the opportunity to write our own versions of this story! In our own stories about Cookie, we imagined this tricky kitty spent a week at JV. What kinds of mischief did this little trickster get into?

After a walk around the building, we brainstormed places he could make a little trouble. Then, using sentences frames, we wrote and illustrated our own stories!

These stories took several days of diligent writing and creative, careful illustrating.

We had so much fun imagining the mischief Cookie would cause at our school!

Watch for these stories, as well as a rubric, coming home soon!
