Goodbye, Grade One Family!

Dear kiddos,

Our year together was LOADS of fun!

Always remember how special you are. God has made you unique and has blessed you with countless gifts. Use these gifts to make the lives of others brighter. I truly do believe in each and every one of you and I pray you make this world a kinder place. Thank you for blessing me each day this year. Please come back for unlimited hugs and high fives next year!

With my warmest love,

Mrs. Beliveau

Teach the Teacher Week!

We are all blessed with unique talents, passions and gifts, and this week we shared these with our class! We began the week reading about the variety of gifts God has blessed us with:

Then Mrs. Beliveau became a student and the children took turns being the teacher! It was such a joy seeing students light up and share their passions. Check it out!

We kicked off the week, quite literally, with an obstacle course in the gym:

We were taught how to pass and shoot in hockey:

We headed to the Art Room and learned to make Oobleck, a "non-Newtonian fluid" (which means it is both a liquid and a solid). It felt so different!

We had a two different lessons in making colourful rainbow loom jewelry:

One classmate shared his knowledge of rocks and gems ...

... and another student showed us her crystal collection!

We got creative and learned to draw a baseball ...

an orca, ...

... and a snake!

Out in the sun, we practiced our soccer skills ...
 ... and our hockey skills!

We met a special family member! We learned about her communication device, her wheelchair, and how her family includes her in everything they do!
We got sweaty learning the basics of monkey bars!

Counting to 10 in Spanish isn't too hard when we have such a skilled teacher!

We discovered how easy it is to make a tasty salad! (Mrs. Beliveau is considering turning TEACH the teacher into FEED the teacher next year!)

What an AMAZING week! It was a great opportunity for everyone to lead the learning and to share their gifts and talents.

O, P, Q, R, and S!

Our ABC Countdown continues to make each day sparkle!

Oo - One Hundreds Chart Tic Tac Toe
Students were partnered up and received a blank 100's chart. Using two different colours, students tried to fill in the numbers on the chart ... three in a row!

Pp - Paper Planes

We watched a super YouTube on how to make a simple airplane! The we got busy folding and throwing! The planes were an absolute blast!

Q - Quiet Time in the Chapel
Today we ended a busy day with quiet prayer and reflection as a little classroom community. We love our Chapel!

R - Rhymes and Riddles

We squeezed in a hilarious rhyming book, Rhyme Crime, and warmed our brains with some tricky riddles!

S - Student Faith and Wellness Day

Our students cannot wait to gather in mixed grade groups to engage in Student Faith and Wellness Day tomorrow! The goal of the day is to promote positive mental health and wellness in a faith filled environment, and we cannot be more excited!

What a wonderful way to build community, learn, and have fun!

J, K, L, M, and N

Our ABC Countdown has certainly made our days together a little extra sparkly and fun!

J - Jokes

The kids told some side splitters!

Q: What do you call funny mountain?
A: HILLarious!

Q: What do you do with a sick boat?
A: Take it to the dock!

Q: What's smarter than a talking bird?
A: A spelling bee!

K - Kindness
The boys and girls got busy spreading kindness! They wrote uplifting, colourful notes for people who care for us at school and in our families!

L - Launchers with Mrs. LeBel's Class
What an incredible buddy activity with our 3/4 friends! We LAUNCHED pompoms all over the school with our homemade launchers! Rest assured, there was loads of laughter!
M - Magazines

The students enjoyed relaxing with Chirp, Highlights, Chickadee and more!

N - Nature Walk

Did some exploring in nature! Using "nature trappers" we gathers our treasures as we explored.

E, F, G, H, I & a Book Tournament!

May has wrapped up, but we are still packing our days with both learning and fun. Our ABC Countdown began last week and was in full swing this week!

E - Exercise & Environmental Exploration

Nature Scavenger Hunt  had us outside exploring God's beautiful Earth! Add "exhaustion" to our letter E day, too!

F - Frisbees with Friends

We had a blast tossing Frisbees to our friends!

G - Games

Look at all of the amazing games we brought from home to enjoy! What a great opportunity to play fairly! It was also a wonderful way to celebrate our last visit from our Linking Generations Grandma, Pani Lynne!

H - Hula Hoops

Our hips were shimmying as we tackled our hula hoop games!

I - Ink Pen

We were excited to set our pencils aside and use real ink! A word search with each of our names made for an awesome "inky" start!

Tournament of Books: Animal Themed

We are squeezing every little bit of joy we can into our last month together, and couldn't resist a Tournament of Books with an animal theme! Each day we'll read two books, vote, and the winner advances. Here is the draw!

Here is a close up of what we'll be reading:

The students couldn't be more excited for the novel activities each day!
