The Beauty of the Cross

As we explore the Easter Story, we reflect on how Jesus’ sacrifice left us with an enduring symbol, the cross. The cross is a reminder of God’s never ending love for each of us, and this past week, we had the pleasure of bringing that symbol to life. We were joined by a very special guest, Pani Lynne from Linking Generations, who helped us create our own meaningful keepsakes.

Together we tackled a unique and intricate project, our matchstick crosses. The students showed incredible focus and patience as they counted, glued, and pieced together their designs. (All matches were pre-lit and safely cooled before we began!)

What a spectacular, sticky afternoon! The result is a stunning collection of crosses adorning our bulletin board.

These crosses are a beautiful way to reflect on God’s never ending grace and love.

Our Faith-Filled Lenten Journey

We are learning about the Easter Story, and have focused on a very important symbol in our faith; the cross. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for each one of us. The cross is a powerful symbol that reminds us how much God loves us.

We made beautiful matchstick crosses as a reminder of God's love. The matches we worked with were already lit, cooled and very safe to touch. 

We patiently helped one another count out matches, glue, and check and re-check the intricate pattern. This took lots of patience and collaboration!

We even figured out how to carefully count matches using tallies!

We are exploring the Easter Story and have focused on a very important symbol in our faith; the cross. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for each one of us. The cross is a powerful symbol that reminds us how much God loves us.

We created beautiful burned matchstick crosses. Don't worry, the matches we worked with were already lit, cooled and very safe to touch.We patiently helped one another count out matches, glue, and check and re-check the intricate pattern. This took lots of patience and perseverance!

After they dried, we were able to cut them out. 

The symbol of the cross reminds us of Jesus' everlasting, infinite love for us!

With the help of Grandma Theresa, our Linking Generations grandparent, we were able to make beautiful matchstick crosses as a reminder of God's love. Don't worry, the matches we worked with were already lit, cooled and very safe to touch. We patiently helped one another count out matches, glue, and check and re-check the intricate pattern. This took lots of patience and collaboration!

After leaving the crosses to dry, we cut them out. Here are the finished crosses, proudly displayed in our Chapel.

The Cross is Love

We are learning about the Easter Story, and have focused on a very important symbol in our faith; the cross. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for each one of us. The cross is a powerful symbol that reminds us how much God loves us.

Father Joe visited us this week, action bible in hand, to share the story of Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection. 

Using pastels, we created beautiful crosses, reminding us of our risen Lord. 

We loved getting our fingers dirty as we smudged the pastels!

Then we tackled a special, yet challenging activity with some very helpful junior high students. We created beautiful burned matchstick crosses. Don't worry, the matches we worked with were already lit, cooled and very safe to touch, of course! We patiently counted out matches, glued, and checked and re-checked the intricate pattern. This took lots of patience and collaboration!
