Making the Most of Our Last Day!!!!!

Boy did we make the most of our last day! It was a blast! We laughed, we were silly, and we enjoyed one another's friendship. Totally. Awesome. Day.

We started our day with Mrs. Beliveau's world-famous year end "Minute to Win It Challenges"!!!! Wahooooo!!!!

We kicked off the competition with "There She Blows", a challenge that has kids blow a plastic cup across the desk with a straw. Intense, right? Hilarity ensued!

Next was "Capture the Rainbow". Using only one hand, athletes separated jelly beans into their colours. Look at the focus!

Then we got busy with "Go Fishing" by fanning a tissue paper fish into a hoop. Ahhhhhh ... enjoy the cool breeze, kiddos!

The competition got incredibly intense (and very silly) with "Cookie Slide". Open your Oreo, lick it, and slap it on your noggin'. Using your facial muscles, wiggle and squish and squidge your face until the cookie reaches your mouth! No hands, kiddos!

"Move That Marshmallow" had us breathing heavily! Using straws and loads of team work, we sucked marshmallows, moving them from one cup to another.

The final game was spectacular! We slopped a big blob of Vaseline on our noses, and then had a pal chuck cotton balls until one stuck! So! Much! Fun!

Once Mrs. Beliveau calmed the competitors, all received amazing awards! Each student was honored for their God-given gifts. Students were thrilled to receive a special word cloud filled with personalized words.

Here are the kids getting hugs and awards!

Because a last day of school obviously needs a hearty dose of farm animals, we enjoyed a visit from a family's new baby goats! So cute!!!

Then we headed over to the Ardrossan Rec Complex for some active, sweaty fun!

Boys and girls,

Always remember you are kind, generous people. Seize every opportunity to be Jesus to others. I truly do believe in each and every one of you. Thank you for blessing me each day this year. Please come back for unlimited hugs and high fives next year!

With my warmest love,

Mrs. Beliveau

Joyful Days in Grade 1

T - Tongue Twisters and T-Shirts

We wore our favourite t-shirts and attempted some tricky tongue twisters! "Red bulb, blue bulb ..."

U - Uplifting Notes Under Desks

We enjoyed Todd Parr's "The Feel Good Book", and then ducked under desks to write some uplifting notes to our Grade 5 buddies!

V - Veggie Tales and Vegetables

Yummy, yummy, yummy fun!

W - Watermelon and Wacky Hair

Boy, does watermelon taste delicious on a hot day!

X - eXtra recess and eXchange autographs

The kids were quick to point out that today's activities did not start with "X". I know, I know, but I didn't think taking everyone on a fieldtrip to get x-rays was much fun.

We enjoyed sharing autographs and then, when the rain pulled in, we had a bit of an extra recess indoors. We always have fun together, inside or out!

We are certainly making the most of our last few days together!

M - Mismatched and Magazines

Our socks were delightfully mismatched and we enjoyed many marvelous magazines with Ms. Smith's Grade 5 buddies!

N - New Names

Boy, was this a challenge for poor Mrs. Beliveau! 22 kids with brand new names? Yowza! We had everything from Bullet, Rainbow and Mystery Man, to Mr. Waffle, John Deere, and even Sugar Pie! Aaaaaaand Katy Perry was in class today, too, naturally.

So ... O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z? That's it? Only 12 more days? Sniff. We are sure to be savoring the last few days together.

See you on Monday, wearing orange and ready to fold origami outside!

Jumpin' June!

This week had really been a blast, and each day has had us jumpin'!

Our book tournament has begun! Each day we gather with Grade 2 and read two books, voting on a winner to advance in the tournament! Here is our draw:

Ever tried explaining a tournament draw to a 6 year old?

We have been exploring the needs of plants, and it has been pretty obvious to us that plants need soil and water to live ... but can plants grow in other mediums or drink other liquids?

We are looking into these questions, and have started some grass seeds in soil, sand, cotton, and rice.

Day 1 - no signs of grass yet!

We have also decided to forgo watering plants with plain old water, and are instead experimenting with other liquids; apple juice, pop, and Mrs. Beliveau's favourite, coffee! We will keep you posted!

Day 1 ... lookin' good!

Our ABC Countdown has been a blast, and this week is no exception!

E - Eric Carle books and exercise

F - Frisbee, flip flops, and favourites

G - Green snacks and games

H - Healthy hearts and hats (Happy "Fun in the Sun" Track Day!)

I - Inside out and ink pen

Rest up, kiddos, we have J, K, L, M and N to look forward to! Have a spectacular weekend!
