Slow Down, June!

Slow down June, you're going too fast! Our ABC Countdown has certainly made our days together a little extra sparkly and fun!

J - Jokes and Jump Rope

Our jump rope was rained out, but the kids told some side splitters!

Q: What do you call funny mountain?
A: HILLarious!

Q: What do you do with a sick boat?
A: Take it to the dock!

Q: What's smarter than a talking bird?
A: A spelling bee!

K - Kindness
The boys and girls got busy spreading kindness! They wrote uplifting, colourful notes and I put them on the windshields of the cars in our lot!

L - Lunch buddies
We moved ourselves around so we could munch lunch with our pals!
M - Magazines

The students enjoyed relaxing with Chirp, Highlights, Chickadee and more!

N - Nature Walk

Did some exploring and strolling! International playground laws state that when you pass a hill, you must roll down ... so we did!

It was a spectacular week!

Summer Blessings!

Dear kiddos,

What an incredible journey we shared this year! You were brave. You did hard things. You made kind, loving choices. You learned and grew and came so far! I want you to know how incredibly proud I am of each and every one of you.

Remember how special you are. God has made you unique and in his image, blessing you with countless gifts. Use these gifts to make the lives of others brighter. Please know that I believe in you and I know that you will make this world a kinder place.

I am praying for health, sunshine, and JOY for you and your families this summer!

Love and blessings,

Mrs. Beliveau

Books, Balloons, and Bright Smiles!

As we step into the last beautiful days of Grade 1, one thing is certain ... we need to squeeze in all of the joy we possibly can!

BOOKS

Our book tournament is in full swing!

Each day we read two books and vote on our favourite. The winning book advances to the playoffs! Here are a few of the book pairings we've recently enjoyed!

BALLOONS

POP! Each morning until the last day of school, we pop one balloon to find a fun activity inside!

On Monday we were surprised with a gum day!

On Tuesday, we set our pencils aside and wrote with ink pens!

On Wednesday, we challenged our hand eye coordination and learned to cup stack!

On Thursday, we got creative outdoors and sidewalk chalked!

On Friday, we got silly with shaving cream!

5 more balloons to look forward to and several more books will compete in our tournament! The last 5 days are sure to bring more bright smiles and joy!

We are God's Masterpiece!

Our theme this year has centered on this beautiful scripture quote from Ephesians, and it has been a meaningful way for us to celebrate the gifts, passions and uniqueness of each and every person in our school!

To finish off the year, we created beautiful canvases, stamped with this scripture quote.

These art pieces remind us that we are truly made with intention by God, who created us in His image and loves us infinitely!

Boys and girls, you truly are a masterpiece. May you always remember that you are created with love by our Father. Share this love with everyone you meet! Be Christ's hands wherever you go and share the masterpiece that you are with the world!

My warmest blessings and love,

Mrs. Beliveau

Book Tournament Champ 2019!

June has been SO MUCH FUN! It seemed like there was something extra special taking place almost every day! We have enjoyed our ABC Countdown, a trip to Nitza's Pizza, a day at the Zoo, Fun Day, and more!

After a month of fierce competition, we held the finals for our Tournament of Books. It has been an absolute BLAST reading each day, and it was no surprise that the kids were thrilled to read every day! I couldn't be happier about having so many kids SO EXCITED ABOUT BOOKS AND READING!

Our winner? Memoirs of a Hamster!

This is a fantastic read aloud about the challenges of being a hamster. The illustrations are so detailed and realistic, and the writing is catchy and suspenseful.

Happy reading!

Joyful Days in Grade 1

T - Tongue Twisters and T-Shirts

We wore our favourite t-shirts and attempted some tricky tongue twisters! "Red bulb, blue bulb ..."

U - Uplifting Notes Under Desks

We enjoyed Todd Parr's "The Feel Good Book", and then ducked under desks to write some uplifting notes to our Grade 5 buddies!

V - Veggie Tales and Vegetables

Yummy, yummy, yummy fun!

W - Watermelon and Wacky Hair

Boy, does watermelon taste delicious on a hot day!

X - eXtra recess and eXchange autographs

The kids were quick to point out that today's activities did not start with "X". I know, I know, but I didn't think taking everyone on a fieldtrip to get x-rays was much fun.

We enjoyed sharing autographs and then, when the rain pulled in, we had a bit of an extra recess indoors. We always have fun together, inside or out!

We are certainly making the most of our last few days together!
